Aquarius ? Game Review | Two Cans On A String

???Aquarius:??Aquarius is the perfect family card game. Kids love the colorful design, fast play, and familiar matching strategy, while adults love the game?s competitive edge. Aquarius is celebrating it?s 10th Anniversary with all new packaging, a fun new diagonal Element Card and a new Action Card. The deck has gone from 60 to 80 cards and we even added a set of alternate rules for preschoolers. This great family game has been out of print for over two years, and it?s reprint has been highly anticipated by fans.

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius and some infectious family fun! In the card game of Aquarius, each player is given a secret goal card of one of the five elements. Element cards are played on the table connected like dominoes, with each player trying to win by connecting seven panels of their goal. Action cards allow players to shake up the action in six different ways. The game is fast, fun, colorful, and easy to learn ? with enough bluffing and strategy to keep adults engaged. Preshooler variations are included for children as young as 3 years! For 2 ? 5 players, ages 6 and up.Game time: Approximately 20 ? 30 minutes.

  • 2 to 5 player game
  • 20-30 minute game
  • Elemental theme
  • Colorful design
  • Matching strategy card game
  • Ages 6 and up

Aquarius is a fun family game. Here?s what others have to say about Aquarius:

We play this as a family, including a member past his 90th birthday. It is easy to lean, fun to play and gets to be more fun as players take on new strategies. The game play can shift in an instant, so it is almost impossible for someone to get ahead and assume they will win. It?s easy to store, seems pretty durable ? as long as you play with clean hands and on a clean surface (common sense for any card-based game). It is a creative and entertaining way to spend a couple of hours. The games are typically short (maybe 10 to 15 minutes), but we like the fact we can play a number of games and give everyone at least a chance for victory. Think a cross between dominoes and Fluxx, and you come close to the game-play of Aquarius.

it?s fantastic!,March 8, 2007

i played it one evening while visiting friends and had a wonderful time. fluxx was also recommended, however i hadn?t played it yet.
weeks passed and i was still thinking about how fun and inventive aquarius had been, SO, i purchased both on whim one morning.
two weeks later i was ordering two more looney labs games, chrononaughts and the village.
so, two thumbs up, for sure. i?ll be ordering copies for my friends and family, no doubt. wonderful gift idea.

I recently discovered this fabulous game. It is very simple to play and easy to understand. I played it with the students as part of an after-school games club at my local elementary school. After about five minutes they had it down cold. The colorful cards are fun to look at and easy to read.
The game can be played with up to 5 players as each tries to complete connections of seven cards. Each player has a secret goal and action cards can change the goals at any time. I highly recomend Aquarius for any game player.

This is such a simple but intriguing and well-designed game. the cards are lusciously illustrated and considerably larger than previous card-deck-sized versions of Aquarius. Everyone must have this game in their game library.

This game is incredibly fun and super simple. Even my non-gamer boyfriend will challenge me to a few rounds of Aquarius. It?s very compact and great to throw in a bag for some spontaneous downtime with friends. The rules are simple and the card art is great (fire is a little boring). I?ve introduced this game to some very picky, impatient non-gamers and they fell in love with it.

This came is wonderful for an ultra-portable game. It is easy to teach, and fun to play. The cards create a pleasingly colorful palette. I love that I can just stick the deck into a bag and have something ready to play with friends at a moments notice. The action cards help the game not get stuck in a holding pattern because your goal or hand of cards could change at a moments notice. If you like planning out your moves 4 steps in advance, this is not the game for you. If you want a fun game that you can play while socializing, this is great! The only reason it didn?t get 5 stars for durability is that it is a deck of cards. As with any cards, they are prone to bending or wearing at the corners. This deck is not any more prone than other cards in that regard.

This game is so much fun. Really a welcomed change to the ordinary ?card? games out there. Good for younger kids as well; they enjoy matching the elements and counting the number of connections they make. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

I?ve played Aquarius for years now, and love the game. I think the thing I like best about it compared to other games is that it?s just pretty ? it?s nice to look at all the colors when the cards are laid out. In terms of the game though it?s the kind of thing you can get into or play in a sort of distracted, nonchalant way. It?s as easy as dominoes, but with a few card-game-style twists to add interest. A great alternative to ordinary card games.

I recommend Aquarius!
